Hi, I’m Emily
I am a mixed-media artist creating abstract and expressive works inspired by Caribbean flowers. Through bold colors and dynamic compositions, my art celebrates my heritage, identity, and the beauty of the Caribbean. Flowers have always been a central theme in my work, but their significance deepened during my second year at university, amidst the Black Lives Matter movement. Feeling lost and frustrated, I turned to my Jamaican heritage as a source of celebration. Drawing inspiration from old family pictures and the natural beauty of Jamaica, my work became a celebration project. Flowers in my art symbolize heritage, beauty, and my love for the Caribbean, infusing each piece with warmth, joy, and cultural richness. My work is deeply connected to themes of Black British culture, mixed-race identity, and the fusion of Caribbean and British influences. I want my art to feel like a slice of the Caribbean in peoples homes, a celebration of heritage, history, and belonging.
